Hereford Zone Man Shot, Killed by Police on Tuesday

The Baltimore County Police Department (BCoPD) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday night on I-83 South near the Belfast Road Exit in the Hereford Zone.

All southbound lanes were closed between the Mt. Carmel and Belfast Road exits after a traffic stop ended in the man’s death.

According to BCoPD, a 9-1-1 call, placed at around 9pm from a home on Pheasant Wood Ct. off of Armacost Rd. in Parkton, initiated the police response where the man was tracked down, traveling southbound fewer than 10 miles south from where the call was placed.

The call indicated that the man was a threat to himself or others.

Police confirmed that the man died of his injuries on the scene where he was stopped by police in Sparks.  The BCoPD Public Relations office confirmed on Wednesday morning that the man, who has not yet been identified, resided in the home from where the 9-1-1 call was placed.

The police department is expected to provide an update on the shooting Wednesday afternoon, according to BCoPD spokesperson, Jennifer Peach.
