Baltimore County Police Investigating Sexual Assault of BCPS Student on School Grounds

The Baltimore County Police Department announced on Monday night that detectives are investigating the sexual assault of a Baltimore County Public School student from Dundalk.

The student reported the incident to Norwood Elementary School officials on Monday morning which occurred during the school’s pre-arrival hours.  The student did not attend the elementary school.

The school resource officer recovered surveillance video of an unknown black male suspect dressed in all dark clothing sexually assaulting the child on a footpath near the school’s baseball fields. The man then fled the school property on foot.

Norwood Elementary sent a notice notifying parents of the incident, asking parents and students to be extra vigilant. Baltimore County police patrolled the area during school hours on Monday.

Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Crimes Against Children Unit are continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone who may have information on this incident or other potentially related suspicious activity is asked to contact police at 410-307-2020.

Correction: 12/2/2019 at 7:57 pm. An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that the assault was on an elementary school student.  The student, who attends a nearby school, reported the incident to Norwood Elementary school officials, which was in proximity to where the incident took place.
