Readers Speak! is a space devoted to the public discussion of hot button issues facing American society. Some would say that we live in a very polarized country where the media (and social media) sometimes stoke division, and sometimes without allowing a safe space for people to share or hear alternative viewpoints.
Anyone – anywhere in the country – with an opinion about America’s problems or politics is welcome to submit a letter here. Then readers with an alternative viewpoint may submit his/her own, in response. The idea is to promote a healthy dialogue.
Readers Speak! letters should be no more than 1,000 words and should maintain decorum. All we ask is that you keep it respectful, relevant and sincere. We will not publish hateful rhetoric of any kind.
Letters may be edited for clarity and length, but meaning will be maintained. In your letter, please include the link and headline of the Readers Speak! letter to which you are responding – or start your own topic of discussion.
Please also provide your full name, brief background information, city/county and state (which will be published).
Letters should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org and be pasted in the body of the email. Attachments will not be opened.
The Gunpowder Gazette does not pay for these types of submissions.
