Baltimore County teen dies in subsequent accident after crashing into utility pole in Towson

A Baltimore County school senior, Kayla Winter Perry, died on Tuesday morning in a crash on her way to George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Towson.

According to a county press release, Perry, 17,  sustained the fatal injuries after she exited her vehicle after first crashing into a utility pole which broke and fell to the ground with its electrical wires.

While waiting on the curb after the accident, a box truck struck the low-hanging wires which stretched across the north and south bound lanes of Charles Street, throwing Perry onto the shoulder of the road.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Perry was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital.

On Tuesday night, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski issued a statement about the teen’s passing. “My heart is broken for all who loved her. My prayers, sympathies and deepest condolences are with Kayla’s family, her friends and the entire Carver community during this immensely trying time.”
